STORY OF PROPHET ADAM (AS) THE FIRST PROPHET AND HUMAN ALLAH CREATED

Prophet Adam was the first human being Allah (s.w.t) created after creating the components of the universe. Adam was created from clay collected from different places of the Earth and was brought to life after 40years.

After many years Prophet Adam started feeling lonely and needed a companion. So, Allah took a piece of his shortest left rib and created his wife, Eve. They were both living free and happily in Heaven and Allah gave them permission to enjoy everything in Heaven except to consume the fruit of the Forbidden Tree.

As time goes on, Shaitaan took advantage of their weakness and whispered in their ears to eat the forbidden fruit which they did. Having disobeyed, they were both kicked out of the paradise and they both ended on Earth on a Friday, naked.

Getting to Earth, Adam knew life was going to be touch.  Hence, he gathered clothes and weapons to protect his family. The couple were blessed with 2sets of twins.

The first set of twins consisted of a male child called Cain (Qabil) and his sister Iglima and the second set are Abel (Habil) and his sister Labuda. As time passed Cain became a farmer and Abel raised livestock.

Allah revealed to Adam that Cain needs to marry Abel’s sister and vice-versa. Cain refused to obey Allah’s order as he wanted to marry his own twin sister. Prophet Adam was so sad and ask Allah for peace and harmony to rain in his family.

Allah order Adam to tell his sons to offer a sacrifice and the one who fulfils it will have the right to marry a companion of his choice. Abel offered his best animal while Cain offered his worse crops. Allah didn’t accept Cain sacrifice and he was so sad he couldn’t marry his twin sister.

Months later Cain was so angry that he threw a stone to Abel which knocked his head and laid him dead. This was recorded the first murder committed on Earth.

As years went by, Adam’s descendants spread across the earth as he grew older and older. He appointed his Son, Seth, as successor and be the next guide for humankind.

After living for thousand years. Before his death Adam reassured his children that Allah would not leave man alone on earth but would send his prophets to guide them. The prophets would have many names, traits and miracles but they be united in one thing which is the call to worship of Allah alone. Adam finished speaking and closed his eyes. Then the Angel of death took his life away with him smiling peacefully. According to different narrations, the Adam died on a Friday. Then they washed and enshrouded him. They put scent on him and dug his grave and was buried. Eve died one or two years after the dead of prophet Adam and was buried near him.

According to different narrations, grave of Adam is in Abu Qubays cave in Makkah, which was the first mountain created by Allah. According to another narration, Noah put the coffin of Adam on the Ark and buried it in Baitul-Maqdis (Mosque Al-Aqsa), Jerusalem, after the deluge.

The major teachings from Adam’s story are pride and arrogance are always result of loss and destruction. Satan was deprived of his position among angels and expelled from heaven with curses for refusing to prostrate before Adam despite being commanded by Allah.
