On Monday, July 31st 2023, the Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria, Registry Department hosted a special training on Organizational Communication in the University system.
The event, which took place in the Senate Chamber, was aimed at the non-academic personnel and the present corps members to equip them with necessary knowledge and understanding of communication within an organizational setting.
The training had two sessions: the first was handled by Mr Yusuf Adeyanju Yisau, who spoke on the theme: Organizational Communication in the University System. With simple vocabulary and reliable examples, Mr Yisau gave a breakdown of the definition of communication in an organization, types, organizational charts, barriers in organizational communication that should be avoided amongst others.
The second session was facilitated by the Acting Registrar of Summit University, Offa, Mr Mustapha Abayomi Kadiri, who elucidated on the required skills needed for the production of official documents which included memos, letters, minutes.and reports amongst others. He ended with common mistakes to avoid in document production and tips on how to write official documents effectively.
The Vice-Chancellor was represented at the training by the Mr Luqman Abdulraheem, the acting Bursar while the special guest at the occasion was Barr. Ayotunde A. Amosu , Deputy Registrar (Pension and Passages), Federal Polytechnic, Offa.
The attentive and enthusiastic participants at the training were drawn from the various departments if the University notably, the Registry, Bursary, Students Affairs, Academic Planning, Hostels, Security and others.
The participants responded with enthusiasm through active engagement with the presenters and asking questions at the end of the lecture.
